The Custard Factory Gibb Street, Digbeth B9 4AA tel: 01216936333
So the name has been around, but this Medicine Bar presents itself in a unique setting. If you want great music accompanied by a cracking atmosphere and a laissez faire crowd, then Medicine Bar will fill that void.
Three floors, pretty much conjure up the vastness of this musical mayhem. Their live gigs are blindingly good and their DJ nights makes a dull winter evening an Ibiza-spun night. Listen to the doctor and get a dose of this medicine…

Q & A:Charlotte Crabb, Factory
feature
On the site where Sir Alfred Bird once commanded an army of custard creators lies Digbeth’s exciting arts and media complex known as ’The Custard Factory’. Amidst the studio workshops, art galleries and holistic therapy rooms can be found club venue ’Factory’. Also known as the Medicine Bar and incorporating ’The Kitchen’, this venue is home to some of the hottest nights in Birmingham.
We spoke to Charlotte Crabb, their lovely events manager, to get her opinion on what’s cool in Birmingham.
So what’s the most exciting night you’ve got coming up in the near future at Factory?
Radio Soul Wax on Friday 14th April should be really good. There’ll be a big outdoor marquee, ’Too Many DJs’ will be playing their usual dance/electro/indie remixes in their typical ironically clever fashion, amongst others.
Ooh la la. So which night has been the greatest success at Factory?
We run a great DnB night called ’Autumn’ that seems to be a crowd pleaser. Also ’Afrodizzyscratch’ is another really popular night here.
And where did you last get your groove on?
Well usually it’s right here, but I think last time I went out it was to the ’Boiler Room’ at ’The Big Peg’ in Hockley.
So what’s your favourite place to grab a bite?
’The Barton Arms’ is great. They do delicious Thai food, with Belgian beer, and Laurel and Hardy used to eat there, it’s a listed building!
Mmm... sounds nice. So finally where’s your favourite new club?
Can I say here? Here. That’s my final answer.

elmore said on 06th July ... "the med bar is still one of the best nights out in Brum if you are at home in trainers & combats and love your drum n bass/electro/hip hop/B boy/alternative dance.
I have been attending Med bar events for over ten years and still love it.
Many of my friends have commented that it has become rather over-priced recently and, as a result, absolutely banging nights are only half full....shame really.
If the management maybe re-thought their door pricing policy, it may recall the crowds. The drinks are fairly priced, the crowd is always a lively and music-luvin group of nutters!!
Look out for the wicked live graffiti nights & mini festivals coming soon in summer 2007 "
