Great decor and reasonably priced drinks. Definitely will be back again. Need I say anymore!"

Jerry Hannagen said on 17th July ... "I love it here the guys are fab, the music every time I go down there is off the wall, tunes that I have not heard for years.
Every 3rd friday of the month there is this guy that plays music that sends everybody into a frenzy to dance. Its a crazy party, every month he has a different thing, he leads it and then the managers and bartenders get up and play there best tracks. last month he had about 10 people down just to play there favourite song. The place was electric. He calls it the carl finn colective (spelt wrong for some reason) look him up on facebook his thoughts are quite funky!!!
I sure I will see you down at Red as this is most forward thinking place in the city...

Katie Powle, said on 03rd March ... ""There has been a bar on this site for as long as I can remember (without giving my age away we are talking decades). The last success was Sputnik, a scruffy music bar co run by ex members of local band Pop Will Eat Itself. In the nineties, if you used to drink at the Pot of Beer, you would automatically graduate to Sputnik where you could find indie music and jazzfunk nights. Much the same policy and clientele as the legendary student haunt Snobs.
"Well times have changed and the underground bar has a new style for the new century. Red is deceptive as the sign outside the scruffy Temple St doors points down a steep staircase. Through the curtains you notice the aromatherapy oils that are kept burning especially near smoking tables. This is a nice touch but could interfere with the great lunchtime food that is on offer.
" The tables and stools are low in a Japanese style and the eastern theme throughout gives Red the air of sophistication you need to forget its former incarnations. The red and cream colour scheme works well and I felt very comfortable. An excellent bar was a shock for me as I remembered people supping on cider and black and "hooch". The coffee was also amazing - Italian and the best cup I've had in a Birmingham bar. Most of the good tables were booked for a Thursday lunchtime - get in quick and try Red before it gets too popular. Another success for the revitalization of Birmingham culture!""
